Hi Alex: I HAVE A 2001 LINCOLN TOWN CAR AND THE SIDE MARKER LIGHTS DO NOT WORK. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE MAIN WIRE TO THE LIGHTS HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED. CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE AND HOW I NEED TO CONNECT THE WIRE TO GET THEM OPERATIONAL AGAIN. THE CAR CAME THIS WAY WHEN WE BOUGHT IT AND THE PREVIOUS OWNER SAID THEY WERE NEVER WIRED RIGHT SO THEY DISCONNECTED THEM. CAN YOU HELP ME?
Alex:
THE SIDE LIGHTS WORK OFF THE REAR PANEL BEHIND THE SEAT. THEY ARE FUSED IN THE PANEL, AND SOME USE A RELAY. YOU CAN CALL THE COUCH BUILDER FOR WIRING DIAGRAM IF STILL IN BUSINESS. YOU CAN ALSO TRY MTG.

Hi Alex:
I have a 2000 lincoln town car limo, the problem is that the heater in front of the car wont blow hot or cold air. The heater in the rear of the limo works fine. Any ideas on what the problem might be would be great im based in the uk and finding some one too have a look at it is a problem. Many thanks, Simon Morgan.
Alex:
THE PROBLEM IS THE CONNECTOR IN THE BLOWER MOTOR IS NOT MAKING GOOD CONTACT. IF YOU WIGGLE THE CONNECTOR AND IT WORKS REPLACE BOTH THE CONNECTOR AND THE MOTOR. IF ITS STILL NOT WORKING UNPLUG THE BLOWER MOTOR CONNECTOR AND CHECK TO SEE IF YOU HAVE POWER AND GROUND ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CIRCUIT IN THE PLUG. IF YOU DON'T HAVE GROUND REPLACE THE BLOWER MOTOR CONTROLLER ITS IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT BY WINDSHIELD.
Hi Alex:
Alex, My 2001 Exec "L" sedan accumulates water in the rear passenger side foot well, ie where the passenger's feet rest. The small carpet on top of the floor carpet does not get wet, only the bottom. we put it up and opened the little trap, vacuumed, etc. Then we took out the seat, pulled up the carpet and had to squeeze about a quart of H2O out of the foam backing. Now 24 hrs later (no rain, no car wash) it is still quite wet to the touch. My mechanic cleaned the "Gutters" two weeks ago, whatever they are. He is lost. Can you help?
Alex:
YOU WOULD HAVE TO TAKE OUT THE FRESH AIR INLET OUT AND SEAL ALL AROUND THE OPENING WITH SILICONE AND LET IT DRY. AND REMOVE THE FLAP ON THE HOUSING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE LOWER WINDSHIELD.

Alex:
I have an 85 lincoln towncar with throttle body injection (cfi). It runs fine when cold, but starts to run rough as it reaches temperature. It stalls often and surges at stops and even while driving down the road. I ran the engine off test on the computer and got the following codes: 31 (egr valve out of range) 41 (lean O2) and 64 (air temp sensor signal low). These were the memory codes. The on demand portion gave me an all clear. The memory was cleared before the test drive after I replaced the tps which came up bad on a previous test. I did not do a engine run test this time, but the last one gave me a 33 (egr valve did not open/operate) and 41 (lean O2), Is the egr valve bad? -Mike
Alex:
THE EGR VALVE MAY BE GETTING STUCK OPEN. THAT WOULD GIVE YOU THE LEAN CODE AND THE EGR CODE, TRY TO DISCONNECT THE EGR VALVES VACUUM HOSE AND DRIVE THE CAR IF IT RUNS GOOD THEN THAT WAS THE PROBLEM.

Alex:
I have a 94 town car and I keep blowing fuses for the brake lights and my speed control don't work also what could be the problem. Please email me, Thanks David
Alex:
Two different fuses - master distribution box under hood & one at top of brake pedal, must change both. Check the harness underneath the dash on the brake pedal, sometimes the wire gets worn and blows the fuse.

I have a 1986 Lincoln Town Car, and I have removed the emissions parts, because when i bought the car it was all rotten. The car does run, but not very well. The RPM seems to be surging, and it won't keep an idle. What do I need to do? Thanx, Jeff Fullerton
Alex:
Check the EGR valve to see if stuck open. Spray around the lower intake manifold to see if RPM increases. Spray rest of hoses for any sign of RPM change. Good luck, Alex.

Alex:
1987 Lincoln Towncar......turns over...will not start trying to find out what to look for...spark plugs and all ok....if fuel pump....where is it? Thanks deej366
Alex:
YOU CAN CHECK IF THE INERTIA SWITCH IS TRIPPED WHICH IS LOCATED IN THE TRUNK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE IT SHOULD HAVE 12V WHEN YOU CRANK THE CAR. THE FUEL PUMP IS IN THE FUEL TANK. ALSO YOU CAN CHECK THE RELAY FOR THE ECC SYSTEM AND THE FUEL SYSTEM

Alex:
Hi Alex, I am trying to locate the wiring supplemental for the 1995 Lincoln DaBryan Limousine (60") 6 Pak. It was supplied with the vehicle when new and contained numerous schematics and assorted wiring diagrams for that particular vehicle. Do you have any sources for this information? Any help is greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Mark Wilson
Alex:
YOU CAN CALL DABRYAN, GIVE THEM THE SERIAL NUMBER OF THE CAR AND THEY WOULD SELL YOU THE INFO. THE OTHER THING YOU CAN TRY IF IT USES MASTERCOM CONTROL PANEL IS TO CALL MTG FOR INFO.
Dear
Alex:
Alex, Is there a picture and description of how to replace the erg valve on a 1995 Lincoln town car? If so how can I get this. Our local mechanic said it was a huge job and would be very expensive to replace and very time consuming. Is he being honest with me? I am awoman but not an ignorant one at all. I'm more familiar about auto mechanics raising two sons than most moms. Please answer to DBL348
Alex:
THE EGR VALVE IS IN THE BACK OF THE ENGINE, IT IS A DIFFICULT JOB BECAUSE THE THROTLE BODY HAS TO BE REMOVED. I WOULD RECOMMEND TO REPLACE THE TUBE THAT ATTACHES TO THE EGR VALVE BECAUSE IT WILL BREAK WHEN YOU TRY TO TAKE IT OFF.
I RAN THROUGH A FLOOD AND THE BACK OF THE LIMO GOT FULL OF WATER I BAILED OUT THE WATER AND VACUUM OUT THE REST. THE CAR WAS RUNNING FINE BUT THE OWNERS TOOK THE CARPET OUT AND CHANGED A LOT OF FLUIDS WAS THAT THE THING TO DO? IT'S A 2003 LINCOLN THAT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO , BUT I WOULD CALL THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO SEE IF YOU HAVE COVERAGE. THE HARNESS WHEN IT GETS WET WILL SHORT OUT LATER ON, CAUSING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS

Alex:
I have a 2001 LTC sedan and has the "service engine soon" lighted up. The car pulls at around 30-40 mph, the same as if it was a misfire on the pistons (i.e.. bad coil or spark plug) but much lighter. The mechanic ran a diagnostic and it read "insufficient air flow detected" and "differential pressure feedback plug or hose disconnected". He cleaned up the EGR and the checked everything and seems to be ok but the codes still come up and the "service engine" still comes up. Where is the "differential pressure feedback" plug located? Thanks For your help:

Alex:
THE DPFE SENSOR IS MOST LIKELY YOUR PROBLEM, ITS LOCATED IN THE BACK OFF THE ENGINE ON THE
PASSENGER SIDE. IT HAS TWO VACUUM HOSES AND ONE CONNECTOR. FORD ALSO HAD ADDED MORE WARRANTY TIME AND MILEAGE FOR THE SENSOR.

Alex:
I have a Lincoln Town car (1994) , my problem is I have a rubbing sound when the transmission changes from 3rd to overdrive gears. Had the transmission checked out and they could not find anything wrong with it , so they did a service of change fluids and filters. Then went to another mechanic and he said I needed a egr value, did that but still makes that sound in while gears are changing, service engine light is still on. Nothing shows up on the transmission when tested, could it be the engine coolant sensor?
Thank You for your time
Sincerely, Elaine
Alex:
IT SOUNDS LIKE THE TORG CONVERTER IS CHATTERING GOING INTO OVERDRIVE. DOES IT SOUND LIKE YOU ARE GOING OVER A STEEL BRIDGE OR OFF THE ROAD WARNING GROOVES. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS LIKELY THE EGR PASSAGE UNDER THE THROTTLE BODY CLOGGED, YOU CAN APPLY VACUUM TO SEE IF THE ENGINE STALLS OUT, IF IT DOES ITS OK BUT IF IT DOESN'T ITS CLOGGED

I have a 1986 lincoln town car, for the longest time if you didn't drive it everyday the battery would go dead, jump car would start right up and run, now have a charging system light on, belts are tight etc., what causes this problem tks for your help
Alex:
THE ALTERNATOR OR REGULATOR IS NOT CHARGING, CHECK TO SEE HOW MANY VOLTS YOU AT THE BATT WHEN RUNNING. THE REGULATOR IS ON THE FENDER.

I have a 95 Springfield coach Lincoln town car. Whenever you have the air on in the front and you accelerate the air goes from the vents to the defrost or floor. When you let up on the gas it goes back to the vents. How can I fix this. Jim
Alex:
I WOULD CHECK FOR A VACUUM LEAK. THE FIRST PLACE I WOULD CHECK IS THE HOSE THAT'S GOES TO THE PCV VALVE WHICH IS IN THE PASSENGER SIDE VALVE COVER. FOLLOW IT BACK TO THE MANIFOLD IT USUALLY CRACKS AND LEAKS .THE NEXT PLACE IS THE VACUUM CANISTER WHICH IS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FENDER IT LOOKS LIKE A BLACK BOX IN FRONT OFF THE MASTER CYL IT HAS A HOSE GOING TO IT.APPLY VACUUM TO IT AND SEE IF IT HOLDS IT.

Alex:
I hope you will be able to help us ,We have a 1995 Lincoln Town Car Limousine it is 85" Laredo with 430k Miles. The problem is when driving it jumps out of gear thishappens from time to time some times it is cold or sometimes when it is hot .It does not happen on all trips. We have changed the speed sensor & the shift solenoid. This limo is in Ireland we bought it in NJ last year. Thanks in advance for your help.
Alex:
THE FIRST PLACE I WOULD LOOK IS UNDER THE DASH IN FRONT OF THE BRAKE PEDAL THE SHIFT CABLE IS ATTACHED WITH TWO TORX BOLTS THEY COME LOOSE.RETIGHTEN THEM AND SEE IF THEY WERE LOOSE. ALSO CHECK THE MOTOR MOUNTS AND TRANS MOUNTS IF THE ARE BROKEN THEY CAN ALSO CAUSE YOUR CONCERN. AND SEE WHERE THE SHIFT CABLE ATTACHES TO THE TRANS IS SECURE AND NOT BINDING

What is it about the limousine? There is a clear elegance to the limousine and a mystery that surrounds the people behind the tinted windows. Since the golden age of automobiles in the early 1900s, the public has been fascinated by the elegant and, at times, daring designs of the limousines and town cars in which royalty, movie stars, and captains of industry are driven.
This book traces the history of the stretch limousine, covering the classic, stately styles of the early days to the sleek, contemporary, and luxury -filled models of today. Stretching It: The Story of the Limousine, is the first comprehensive look at limousines, chauffeurs, and riders of the back seat, from the earliest to the present.
